Schema Therapy

A deep, integrative approach that targets long-standing emotional patterns rooted in early experiences.

Schema Therapy is an integrative approach combining elements of cognitive-behavioural therapy, attachment theory and emotion-focused work. It is particularly effective for long-standing patterns that have not resolved in shorter therapies — such as recurring relationship difficulties, perfectionism, self-criticism, abandonment fears or chronic emptiness.

The model identifies "schemas" — emotional templates formed in childhood that influence how we see ourselves, others and the world. Together we map these patterns, understand where they came from, and build new emotional experiences that gradually loosen their grip.

Schema Therapy is suitable for clients who want a deeper, longer-term piece of work — but its language and tools are also useful in shorter therapies.
